Farm Fresh Southern Cooking by Tammy Algood

Travel the southern states with author Tammy Algood to find locally grown produce, herbs, farms, and farmers’ markets. Then explore the 270 pages of recipes that Ms. Algood offers to not only tempt your taste buds, but also to expand your horizons with new fresh flavors, you may not have ever tried.
Besides the recipes, what I enjoyed the most about this cookbook is the author’s trips to farms and farmers’ markets all over the southern states of the U.S. She gives us an overview of what to expect when visiting each farm, what they offer, tours that may be available, location, website information, and contact information. I found myself looking up many farms on the Internet and enjoyed many of their offerings. It is a good way to discover new opportunities for family, fun, day trips, and the freshest goods you may ever find.
Ms. Algood offers a large variety of recipes, all with a southern flair, of course. The list of offerings includes: appetizers, soups, salads, breads, entrees, desserts, great breakfasts and more.
Some of my favorite recipes are the “Easy crust chicken pot pie”, “Revival strawberry bread”, “Orange hugged carrots”, and “Savory Zucchini pie”. The cookbook has many full color photographs; and the author also includes a chapter of canning instructions.
Although I did not think I would enjoy some of these southern recipes, I found this cookbook quite delightful, and look forward to trying some fruits and vegetables that I may not have discovered on my own.
I received this book from BookSneeze.com in exchange for my honest review.
